Realcold History

Legend has it Recold Ltd was started after a crate of 200 thermostats was delivered by mistake to what was then a small refrigeration contracting company, known then as Refrigeration Engineering Co Ltd., specializing in design and installation of ammonia systems. While the thermostats were soon delivered to the correct wholesaler, it started a chain of events that carries on today.

Established in 1955, the Realcold provides quality products, services and customized solutions to the commercial refrigeration industry in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. 

Sharing a common focus on quality and innovation, global suppliers such as the Tecumseh Products Company, Frascold and the Sporlan Valve Company who each have over 70 years’ of experience in refrigeration component manufacturing and have chosen Realcold as an authorized wholesaler to target the New Zealand and Pacific Rim markets. Realcold was the first export customer for Tecumseh Europe and we have been a partner for over 50 years since the first international export shipment to New Zealand.

In addition to wholesaling for over 55 years, Realcold is also a reputed specialist in design and manufacture of refrigeration plant such as condensing units, evaporative coolers and flaked ice machines. These can be seen in our photo gallery.
